A winter like in the old days

Cold noses, red cheeks, somersaults in the snow, the smell of warm apple strudel: At the STERN, the whole family can experience the true magic of winter.

Why do we adults love winter in the mountains so much? Is it really the slopes and après ski? Maybe! But deep inside, there is also probably a longing for a winter like the ones we experienced as children:

A time when we threw snowballs at each other, fell laughing into the snow, grinned at the sky and time stood still.

The larger and indeed smaller ski resorts are located not far from the Stern, but experiencing winter also means: pulling on a snowy branch while walking in the forest, sledging down a hill together, dousing an apple strudel with warm vanilla sauce, making a snow angel and breathing in the scent of freshly baked cookies.

When the kids come back from skiing lessons at the nearby Grünberg lift, there is still enough time to build a snowman, feed the ponies and pet the rabbits with Grandpa Toni.

Parents can take the shuttle service to the Hochoetz ski area or begin their cross-country trails directly from the hotel. The mountains around the Stern are also the starting point for countless ski touring routes.

In the evening, children, parents and grandparents can sit together in historical and cosy Tyrolean-style rooms known as “Stuben”. As in the past, the ingredients are regionally sourced, and our cooking is based on the traditional recipes of Grandma Adele.
