Small but nice family skiing area
Grünberg is a great place for those first turns: small, easy to navigate and ideal for children. Magic carpets, a carousel and a drag lift make getting started easy, with plenty more nearby – from sledging to cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and ski touring. The ski area is just 1 km from the hotel and easy to reach by car, ski bus, hotel shuttle or even on foot. Open from Christmas to early March (depending on snow conditions).
Snow experience in the Sternchen Club
After ski school, the kids can return to The Stern with the hotel shuttle and enjoy lunch right away. Then it’s out into the snow again for the afternoon – for sledging, building snowmen, sliding or simply enjoying winter moments that bring rosy cheeks. A family holiday that flows easily: ski lessons in the morning and plenty of outdoor winter time in the afternoon.
Skiing-Learning-Guarantee
With Ski School Schaber, children aged 4 to 10 learn to ski over five mornings – gently, playfully and with a clear structure. Experienced instructors help them make good progress, and if the learning goal hasn’t been reached by the end of the course, the next course is free.

- Registration: personally on arrival, daily from 9am to 5pm for ski courses and private lessons, also for snowboard and cross-country skiing
- Courses: children from 4 years; Monday to Friday always from 10am to 12pm; on Mondays the groups are divided and on Friday there is a race with a medal ceremony
- Price: Euro 170 per child (instead of Euro 230)
- Ski rental: Alpine ski set (skis, boots, poles) for 5 days – minus 10% Stern discount; ski depot directly at the Grünberg lift
Ski ahoy for advanced skiers
Those who already ski more confidently or want more slopes will find several lovely ski areas within easy reach around The Stern. The free hotel shuttle takes guests to Hochoetz, where children can continue improving their skiing with Ski School AGE.
- Hotel shuttle: 3 times daily from Tuesday to Thursday; 20-minute journey from The Stern to Hochoetz
- Ski area Hochoetz: 12 lifts/cable cars and 30km of slopes, up to 2.000m; ski passes can be bought at the Stern (not included)
- Ski package: 3 days of ski lessons with transfer from hotel, lunch and ski race; Ski School AGE
