THE STARS

Elfi

the kind soul at Stern

“From hand to mouth, may be taken quite literally at the fruit picking tour, in the herb garden or when out in the wilds of nature. Whether berries or herbs, we taste and cook whatever comes into our hands!”

Fein Dunken

No fuss, no fanfare

Experience the strength of nature and feel the connection with regional tradition

The people on the Mieminger Plateau feel very closely connected to the landscape where they live and work. The concept of conserving and protecting the landscape is not seen as an obligation, but accepted as a responsibility – here, people and nature are in harmony with each other.

Many farmers in the region converted to organic farming more than 20 years ago. The quality of the local produce is outstanding. The mountain huts are still run by the families themselves. Here you will find hearty, traditional Tyrolean cooking wherever you look.

Silent places of strength

There are no large cable cars or noisy hut parties to be found on the Mieminger Plateau. Instead, undisturbed, beautiful places of natural strength. So whether you use snow boots or mountain boots, hiking to a peak in the early morning and watching the sun rise over the mountains is an unforgettable experience.

The Stern inn is not only a restaurant for hotel guests, it is also a constant feature of the local village community. Here you can meet the locals and over a glass of red wine, they are more than happy to discuss the best hiking and ski touring routes around their area.

Experience nature and handcraft up close

At Stern, enjoyment means not only consuming, but also learning about and creating. Handcraft, tradition and nature are lived and experienced simultaneously, be that through fruit tasting in the berry garden, larch bathing in the forest or a night spent in the hay bed on the mountain pasture. You can even help out with the hay harvest, planting potatoes, milling grain or baking bread.

Protecting the environment

Locally, people here tend to travel on foot, by bike or via public transport. When you are with us, the car can also have a holiday. Every guest receives a glass Emil bottle as a welcoming gift – which reduces the average PET consumption on holiday by 95%. Our natural, regional set menu produces 20% less CO2 emissions than a conventional menu, due to the many regional ingredients we use.
