“Our countryside is precious to me and I am happy to be able to show our guests the most wonderful places of spiritual strength.”

Fein Dunken

Where winter still feels real

Plenty of sunshine, clear air and winter days that feel less like a hotspot and more like a genuinely good holiday.

Around The Stern, snow adventures begin right outside the door. Children trudge through the snow, help Grandpa Toni feed the animals, take the ponies for a walk or slide down the hill. Cross-country trails, sledging spots and snowshoe routes start right at the hotel – and it’s exactly this mix of fresh air, movement and little winter moments that makes the cold season here so special.

Learning to ski the way it should be

For families, The Stern is a truly good place to learn to ski. The children’s ski area at Grünberg is close by, easy to manage and ideal for those first turns. The ski pass is included, distances are short and everything stays pleasantly uncomplicated. So that first ski course doesn’t become a major project, but a winter experience children enjoy and parents can feel relaxed about.

Not a hotspot. Just a really good winter.

And if you want more slopes, there are several ski areas within easy reach around Stern – Hochoetz is even connected by ski shuttle. At the same time, winter on the sunny plateau remains pleasantly calm and natural. No big hotspot bustle, no being rushed through, no winter built only around spectacle. Things simply feel more normal here: the people, the activities, even the prices. That’s exactly what makes this area so special – sunny, authentic and, for many, a true hidden gem in Tyrol.

At the very top of Stern, the panoramic sauna, rooftop terrace and quiet area await – with open views of the mountains, larch meadows and evening light. Those who wish can add a massage or yoga session.

360 degree mountain panorama at the Stern

The most beautiful view of Obsteig is from the rooftop terrace. When the Mieming mountains glow in the evening light and the larch meadows slowly grow quiet, you quickly realise: this is what you came for.
